7 Tips for Petite Girls to Look Taller and Slimmer with the right clothes

Small stature has its advantages. For example, you always look younger than your actual age. But there are also drawbacks: you need to choose your clothes and accessories carefully because a failed combination can easily “shorten” your figure and deprive it of its elegance.

We asked the stylists for advice on how to properly accentuate a small stature and verified their recommendations with the help of a charming model.

7. Tops and skirts

To look impressive, you must not forget to maintain the correct proportions of the figure. Your choice of clothing plays an important role in this. Wearing the loose blouse “cuts” your figure in half, making your torso look fuller and longer, while it “shortens” your legs. It is better to wear the blouse tucked into the skirt, as it will highlight the waist, “stretch” the legs, and, in general, will make your figure more fragile and slender. Another option is to wear a crop top and skirt set.

6. Belts and shoes

If you like to wear buckled ankle shoes or sandals, make sure the straps match your skin tone. When it comes to shoes, contrasting colors or volume can make your legs look much shorter. You should also avoid wide belts.

The photo on the left shows a belt that creates a visible horizontal line, widening the trunk. Meanwhile, vertical lines (dress without a belt, shoes with lighter colors) make us noticeably taller and slimmer.

5. Jackets and Blazers

Little girls should not wear bulky or stretchy jackets, suits, or blazers, as they visibly shorten the legs and make the silhouette blurry and heavy. It is advisable to choose jackets and blazers of small volume, cut and fitted at the waist or slightly below.

You should also be careful when choosing your bags. The best option for little girls is a small bag that is no more than 10-11 inches wide. Today’s trendy shopping bags are likely to complicate your overall image. If you prefer backpacks, they should also be small and have well-defined geometric shapes.

4. Cardigans

Long cardigans are an easy solution to “add” a few inches to your height without the help of high heels. These garments do a perfect job of creating that important unbroken vertical line, which visibly improves your height. Of course, your cardigans shouldn’t be too bulky or have noticeably large details such as large patch pockets.

3. Dresses

Voluminous dresses look best on tall girls. When worn by miniature beauties, these items appear to “press” the wearer’s figure against the floor, shortening the silhouette and, in particular, the legs. On the other hand, dresses with a tight waist combine perfectly with the ladies, giving the correct proportions and “stretching” the silhouette upwards.

2. Contrasts and monochromes

Contrasting clothing colors, such as a light top and dark bottom, separate the figure in half, creating a sharp horizontal boundary line that emphasizes its lack of height. In comparison, monochrome outfits visibly elongate the silhouette. Also, note that brightly colored clothing looks bulkier – in photos, the same sweatshirt in a different color (left) appears slightly larger.

1. Jeans and tops

A crop top is a perfect choice for short women. Combining with high-waisted jeans helps to significantly stretch the legs. Another option is to wear a crop top and skirt. Try it and the results will leave you pleasantly surprised.
